Hyphenate Raises $45M to Automate Finance Work

Hyphenate has raised $45 million in Series A funding to expand its autonomous finance platform. The round was led by Nexus Venture Partners, with participation from B Capital and existing backers Foundation Capital, BoldCap and Gaia Ventures, bringing the company’s total funding to $54 million. The startup, officially known as Prosperous Commerce, was previously called Maximor before rebranding earlier this month.

Instead of asking finance experts to write prompts or build rule-based workflows, Hyphenate trains its AI agents on each customer’s historical financial work: spreadsheets, email trails, invoices and records going back years. The idea is to capture the unwritten know-how of a finance team, so agents can handle general ledger accounting, treasury management, order-to-cash, procure-to-pay and financial reporting, while connecting to existing enterprise resource planning, accounting and banking systems.

The pitch is aimed squarely at a trust gap. In a Hyphenate study, 96% of finance chiefs surveyed saw cutting repetitive manual work as a major benefit of AI, yet only 14% said they trusted the technology to do it without mistakes, and 97% insisted human supervision remains essential. Hyphenate answers that with a full audit trail for every agent action, clear operational guardrails, and human oversight at moments that require judgment; when a person resolves an exception, the agent treats the decision as a precedent for next time.

Early traction appears strong: the company counts six publicly traded customers, including Groupon, Synthesia, HiBid and Mini Melts USA, which it says have cut up to 90% of routine manual finance work and reduced audit exceptions by an average of 75%. HiBid has processed more than $2.5 billion in gross merchandise value through the platform and cut its month-end close from three weeks to a day. Teams exploring AI for finance can also compare analytics options such as Akkio, Coefficient and Tableau in our directory.
