Kognitos has launched Kognitos AI Employees, a lineup of 61 role-based AI agents for finance and banking that execute approved standard operating procedures deterministically — with a full audit trail an auditor can replay in plain English.
Announced on October 21 from San Jose, the launch lets teams “hire” roles such as AP Specialist, Reconciliation Accountant, Cash Application Specialist, Close Manager, and KYC & Onboarding Analyst, backed by a library of 515 SOPs. The pitch targets a known production bottleneck: general-purpose agents decide each step as they go, so they can handle the same invoice differently every time.
Kognitos answers that with a neurosymbolic architecture: models read documents and requests, while a patented English-as-Code engine executes each SOP the same way every time. Each run produces a journal logging every call to an ERP, bank, or inbox. When a case falls outside the SOP, the run pauses and asks a person in plain English.
Alongside the roles comes Quill, a builder agent that studies a team’s systems and recent transactions, compares them against written policy, and drafts SOPs in plain English for human approval.
The company also expanded its Context Graphs with 133 ready-made finance monitors across 62 processes in 14 areas, now reachable through REST and MCP so customers can plug in their own agents.
Founder and CEO Binny Gill said the goal is AI teammates finance leaders can delegate to “and defend in an audit.” The release is in preview to Kognitos customers. If general assistants like ChatGPT or Claude feel too free-form for your books, this is the deterministic alternative — see also our best AI tools for accountants.
