OVHcloud Plans First AI Model Launch in Early 2027

French cloud operator OVHcloud plans to launch its first AI model in early 2027, CEO Octave Klaba told Reuters on October 20 following the company’s annual earnings report.

The model will use a mixture-of-experts architecture, which routes tasks to specialised sub-models, Klaba said. He told Reuters in June that OVH had started training its own models on Jupiter, Europe’s fastest supercomputer — a move that positions the company as a potential European challenger to Mistral.

Before the model arrives, OVH will release the first pilot of OVHai Workspace, a productivity platform tuned on the company’s internal data running workplace apps such as email, with the pilot coming shortly, Klaba said.

Klaba also said about half of OVH’s connected cloud capacity is available for new clients — 110 megawatts ready out of 250 MW connected, with 140 MW in operation — meaning the company can onboard customers without new construction while rivals must invest.

He repeated his criticism of Europe’s state-backed computing programmes, saying their financing — half EU, half member state — pushes projects toward national initiatives. Last month he called national strategies for the EU’s planned AI gigafactories “doomed to failure,” arguing a proposed €200 million public commitment to buy AI services over five years is too small to underpin the required private investment.
