EchoTwin AI has raised $5 million in new funding to accelerate its Physical AI platform for urban infrastructure. Investors in the round include Gryphon Capital, Automotive Ventures and Black Mountain Ventures, taking the San Francisco company’s total seed capital past $13 million.
The platform turns vehicles already operating on city streets into mobile inspection systems. By combining mobile sensing, computer vision, edge AI, vision-language models and geospatial intelligence, it aims to move cities from periodic inspections toward a continuous understanding of roads, infrastructure assets and public spaces, so problems are spotted as they emerge rather than at the next scheduled check.
EchoTwin describes five connected technologies behind the system. CityVision processes video at the edge inside vehicles; CityVLM interprets street scenes and assesses risk and severity; CitySync organizes observations into an evolving geospatial picture of the city; CityIQ adds historical memory to prioritize work and support decisions; and CityView gives municipal teams one application to visualize conditions, manage observations and coordinate responses.
The new funding will go toward product development, customer deployment and commercial expansion, including deeper customer relationships, new partnerships and entry into additional markets. Founder and chief executive Dr. Chris Carson said the goal is technology that helps cities understand what needs attention, why it matters and what to do next. Turning raw observations into decisions is a familiar challenge for data teams, and tools such as Tableau, Akkio and Domo show how analytics platforms support that last step.
